She announced the release of her latest single, Perpektong Tao, after being involved in a controversy with her onscreen partner, Anthony Jennings. The song tells the story of someone who made mistakes and is trying to make things right.
The song begins by describing how secrets were revealed while feeling powerless to stop it.

On Instagram, Maris shared how writing the song helped her heal.
